You shoot from the hip, Rosemarie! That’s what gets you in trouble!

There’s no way to begin except to just do it.  For a woman who is never speechless I seem to be unable to get going on this blog thing.  So here goes nothing!

I am  a straight shooter.  My son, Patrick, likes to remind me to “filter, mom”.  I know.  Sometimes my thoughts sneak out of my mouth without due diligence to my frontal lobes.  My boss at Presentation told me in a recent meeting that I shoot from the hip and that’s what gets me in trouble.  I immediately thought (but held my mouth closed) “Which hip, Mary?  My real one or my ceramic one?”  Had she forgotten that I had my right hip replaced this last summer?  The irony (and the humor!) of her comment was not lost on me.

On that note, people have been asking me “Aren’t you a little young to be getting a new hip?” and “How long will that new hip last?”  My thoughts… how long does anything last?  What warranties do we have on a breast or an eye or a lung?

I’d rather focus on living life and finding some mischief!  I hope you will join me.

  1. Hey Rosemarie! I love your new blog and what a perfect name for it. Did you design this? Paisley fractals and whispy brush strokes remind me of your vibrant and courageous personality–not to mention your tendencies to be “hip”! Love you!

  2. From one “hippy” to another. I have never known you to be a three paragraph girl. I’m sure you’ll get rollin’. Just don’t tell about all my girlfriends when we were growing up, and it’ll be OK. But wait, it’s not about me…!! lv ya mean it.

  3. Dear Rosemarie,
I am happy Susan let me know about your blog. If you do not already know Susan and I have been friends for 50 years now. She has always been a treasure to me.

Your posting is funny and I love it. I think “no…..lets not filter mom.”….our kids always feel like they must do that for a reason? They are merely affraid of our wisdom, but they don’t even realize it.

I noticed quickly you identify yourself as a yogini…i am familiar with that world and certainly know several yoginis who I deeply respect. Yoginis are powerful and can do much good in the world.

    Keep writing.

    • Thank you, Charles, for your kind words! I am still getting the hand of this blogging so I apologize for not being quick to respond. Susan spent a weekend with me last month and we had a wonderful time. She is the big sister I never had!

  4. Love your blog. Got a little teary-eyed from the one about raising your boys. Love it. You are a great writer. Love your candor and that you show you have at times struggled but still saw the beauty in things.

    Love ya!
    Erin

  5. Awesome start and design! I do believe you know how to relate what you did observe and your observations were keen. Very enjoyable reading!

  6. Having no filter is a wonderful trait! People around you never have to second guess what you might be thinking/ If they are strong confident people, they will understand that this brings trust.

    • You are so right, Teri! I couldn’t agree with you more. Wishy washy people just don’t make any progress. Get off the fence and say what you mean and do what you say! Amen to that!

  7. LIsa! Let’s hear it for hip shooters! I agree.. we say what other people want to say and then we get in major trouble for it while they watch on and keep their job status! :)

Oh well. It’s the way I was raised. I don’t want to go down not expressing my view on things that matter in life. There must be a heaven for us somewhere! And the discussions will be outstanding!

Miss you too! You always add such intelligence and perspective to the group.
    Love you, diva!
